Hey I’m Pete 🙋♂️
My passion is growing and nurturing young health professionals to be successful. As a result Michael Rizk, Andrew Zacharia and myself began iMoveU, a movement designed to help bridge the gap between University and private practice for all allied health practitioners. I felt there were more than enough amazing technical based courses, however there wasn’t a great resource for developing the soft skills – communication and mindset. This is our passion and it truly is an incredible feeling to watch the growth of young health professionals!
My life in Physiotherapy
My journey in Physiotherapy began in an odd manner, I initially studied engineering for 6 months before dropping out of that to study exercise science, which I only joined as my friend was doing it. To say I wasn’t the greatest student in the first year would have been far too kind. It wasn’t until the start of my second year that’s things changed – during a social indoor soccer match I broke my right leg in half (just like the YouTube videos!) and was forced into a full leg cast for 3 months! During this time I had nothing to do but study & thus my grades improved dramatically. However, it wasn’t until my cast came off and I found out I couldn’t ‘just return to elite sport’ that the gravity of the situation hit – I had to learn to walk in a pool with a physiotherapist and about 6 other people, none of whom were under 80…How that physiotherapist helped me both mentally and physically through one of the toughest times of my life has stuck with me ever since. I wanted to do for other people, what he did for me.
This deep desire to help others through injury and pain led me to create my business and continually expand, because whilst there are only so many people I can help with my own hands, as an extension of myself my business can have an amazing impact on so many people – realizing my goal at a bigger scale than I ever thought possible!
My life in Business
After working at a health care clinic for only 6 weeks, and being continually frustrated with many of the differing values and standards present, I decided to start my own clinic out a crossfit gym – just one room, with no reception…the anti-client experience and after a couple of months this became a partnership with Andrew Zacharia.
Only 4 years after opening the initial clinic we had grown from just the two of us in a couple of small crossfit offices, to two large multidisciplinary clinics with a team of 23 amazing people; and having stepped back completely from consulting in order to best support and grow our team – with a business that now ran on systems in place of us. In 2019 our team were recognised for their achievements by winning the Telstra Small & Succeeding Business Award and I was also humbled to be recognised as one of South Australia’s top 40 entrepreneurs under 40.
My Core Message
Be the person who gives more value than anyone else!
